We hebben het gezien, het mooie modern ingerichte huis van Jos en Margo. Het is bijna af. Alleen de slaapkamers boven willen ze nog aanpakken. Ze slapen nu nog in de o.k. Voor degene die dit niet herkent… is dit opa’s kamer, eigenlijk de kamer waar opa en opoe Bijenhof sliepen na 1950 toen ze meekwamen naar De Boomgaard en waar tot opa’s overlijden in 1976 een soort boekenlegger met een punaise boven de houten ingebouwde kast geprikt was met de tekst My Times are in Thou Hand.
Ze hebben er hun best op gedaan om alles wat eerst olijfgroen met crème was een mooie witte laag verf te geven. Bij Johan en Joke kreeg de o.k een andere functie en werd het het kloppende hart van hun bedrijf waar de computer stond. Dat zal het straks weer krijgen wanneer Jos en Margo boven gaan slapen. Maar de naam O.k zal blijven. Toen Johan en Joke naar hun nieuwe onderkomen verhuisden zeiJos over het schilderij van de Boomgaard:’Dat mag je wel laten hangen’. Maar dat gebeurde niet, waarna Johan ons een hint gaf. Zo kreeg ik de geest om ook voor hen een Boomgaard te schilderen maar nu in de nieuwe situatie, zonder schuur maar met het huis van Johan en Joke op de achtergrond.
We’ve seen the beautiful and modern house of Jos and Margo. It’s almost finished, just the bedrooms upstairs need a make over. Now they are sleeping in the O.k. For who doesn’t recognize it… it’s not in the hospital, but it means opa’s kamer, in fact it’s opa and opoe Bijenhofs bedroom when they came to the Boomgaard in 1950 with us. Until 1976 when opa passed away there was a bookmark pinned on the wardrobe with the text: My Times are in Thou Hand. I’m sure the litte puncture must to be seen yet.
Jos and Margo made it a beautiful bedroom in white and anthracite colours after 75 years olive green and crème. At the time Johan and Joke were living there the o.k. became the heart of their business where the computer found it’s place and in a couple of month it will be so again when Jos and Margo have finished upstairs. But this room will always been called O.k… opa’s kamer.
When Johan and Joke moved to their new home next door Jos said about the painting of the Boomgaard:’You can leave it here’, but Johan didn’t like the idea. He gave me the hint to make a new one for the young couple and so I did. The renewed Boomgaard with the house next door in stead of the barn.
