Sinds kort ben ik ook in het bezit van een account op Facebook. Ik hoorde zoveel nieuw van anderen dat ik er zin in kreeg om behalve de website bij te houden ook af en toe een foto met onderschrift op Facebook te zetten. Je bent meteen op de hoogte van de belangstelling van de verschillende Facebookvrienden all over the world, van de USA en Canada tot aan de Filippijnen. De jongere generatie meldt elke dag wat ze aan het doen zijn, shoppen of een barretje, school of sporten. Bij de oudere feestboekgangers lijkt er meer diepgang in te komen. Je ziet regelmatig een Youtubefilmpje met iets interessants. In Minneapolis komt een Gigi Playhouse waar kinderen met een Downsyndroom kunnen spelen. Christina Ackerman, schoondochter van Berdena en Curtis zet zich hier helemaal voor in. Wim Harwig werkt al hééél lang bij Thermphos en reed er al die jaren met zijn Quest vanuit Vlissingen heen en terug. Wie het nieuws volgt weet dat het daar erom spant. Broer Henk heeft pas zijn Fare well party gehad, nu hij met de VUT gaat, maar hij moet de maand nog even vol maken, t/m vandaag dus. Een collega toonde Henk z’n nog volle bureau op deze laatste dag. Die verveelt zich vandaag niet. En op Facebook kreeg ik weer een hernieuwd contact met Hannie en Alie, de leerlingen van het eerste uur. Ik heb nu uitgevogeld hoe je je informatie alleen aan je vrienden toont en niet aan de hele wereld. Al met al is het tot nu toe een leuk middel om contact te onderhouden met familie en vrienden.

Brother Henk has had his Fare well Party from his work at Nijha in Lochem but has to work untill the first of December. His collegue Niek shows us Henk’s place at the Nijha on his last day. And I’ve got contact again with my pupils in my first time as a teacher, Hannie and Alie. Now I had to learn how to show my pictures and stories just to my friends and not to the whole world.
