Opa met Harold. Er zijn meer foto’s van opa met Harold, maar deze met die mooie oude Ford op de achtergrond vind ik het leukst.
Maar nu moet ik u van ons allebeide hartelijk bedanken voor het pakje voor Harold. We zijn er blij mee en ook dat het groot genoeg is voor a.s. herfst. Voor nu heeft hij alle kleren die hij nodig heeft want in de zomer kan hij niet zoveel aan hebben.
Nettie zei dat ze het ook heel mooi vond en ik wed dat het hem keurig zal staan.
Een buurvrouw heeft nu ook zo’n pakje gemaakt voor haar kleine jongen van twee jaar, maar die is erg klein. Ze had het gemaakt uit een oude trui van haar man die het niet meer droeg, maar het was nog heel goed. En later hadden andere vrouwen aan haar gevraagd waar ze toch dat mooie pakje gekocht had. Dus het valt hier wel in de smaak, zo’n pakje.
En nu moet ik u gelukwensen met uw kennismaking. Ik ben daar blij om, ik heb altijd een tikje medelijden voor je gevoeld dat je alleen bleef, daarom schreef ik jou ook wat vaker dan de anderen. Maar ik vind het heerlijk dat het zo voor je gegaan is. Zo komt alles altijd toch terecht als we geduld hebben, is het niet?
Morgennamiddag gaan we misschien naar Nettie haar ouders toe, want die zijn ook heel belangstellend naar vader, in het bijzonder Nettie haar vader. Wat een prachtige doos is dat toch die Hendrik Jan voor ons gemaakt heeft. Nadat vader gisteravond naar bed was hebben Nettie en ik het nog een poosje zitten bewonderen. En dat tafelkleedje van oom Berend en tante Chrisje is ook keurig. We gaan het ook gebruiken want het past net op de tafel in de voorkamer. Tenminste ze zeggen dat daar zo’n soort tafelkleed bij hoort. Nu moet ik ophouden, want Vader, Nettie en Harold zijn al naar bed. Met groeten van ons allen.

Now I have to thank you very much for that nice small suit for Harold. We are very happy with it also because it will fit him in autumn. At this time he has enough clothes as in summer he won’t need many . Nettie said it’s lovely. Neighbour’s wife made a suit for her 2 years old child to like that you’ve made. She made it from her husband’s sweater, which he wasn’t wearing any more, but was a good one.. And later on other women asked where she had bought that nice suit. So they like it very much.
And now I have to congratulate you made your acquaintance with Gerrit Voortman. I’m so glad for you, I always felt a bit of pity for you while you were single, that’s why I wrote you more often than the others. But I’m very glad for you. So everything goes right as you have patience, isn’t it?
Tomorrow in the afternoon we might go to Nettie’s parents, since they are very interested in father, especially Nettie’s father.
What a beautiful box Hendrik Jan had made for us. As father went into bed last night Nettie and I looked at it for a while full of admiration. And that table cloth from oom Berend and tante Chrisje is also very nice. We’re going to use it because it is just suitable on the table in the front room. At least it has been said such a table cloth is just nice on it. Now I have to stop, since father, Nettie and Harold went already into bed. With love of all of us.
