Tante Heintje maakt de eeuw vol.

Hoera hoera…. Tante Heintje is 100 jaar! Gefeliciteerd!

Hoera, hoera ! Our tante Heintje is 100 years old. Congratulations!
Sorry I missed the date, but former neighbourgirl Jannie Dinkelman send me the mail about an article in the Stentor. With a click on the title of this little story you will enter the website of the Stentor with that article. Only the added picture was removed. So I show you this one made by Wim on a visit about 6 weeks ago at the retirement home were tante Heintje lives.

De Stentor — 22 september 2009.

A cheerful mind, the medicin to turn a 100 years.

Laughing every day… that’s the medicin to get your 100 years. Positive in life is your guaranty to reach the 100.

In retirement home De Borkel where she celebrated her 100th birthday, Heintje Jansen- Eggink is telling about her strong family. More brothers and sisters reached a very high age.

When you are looking at her you wouldn’t guess she is 100 yet. She is talking, very clearly and can understand another when it’s not too busy around her. She is reading her books and sometimes she listens with great pleasure to a spoken book.

She had to work hard with the farm and the care of her 10 children. Before she married she worked on the castle Rhederoord in De Steeg as a chambermaid.
Her daughter Nel also mentions her positive character, while she has had times of sorrow too. Her first husband died when he was only 60. It felt like the walls of the house would fall on me. I asked my eldest daughter what to do. And she said: go swimming, So she did until she was about 75.

However she missed the company of a husband. And she did marry again. Her new husband didn’t have any children. but with her 10 he was happy too.

She also had time for her passion: travelling and so she did. During her marriage with her first husband there was no time on their farm and the care of her 10 children and he also didn’t want to go abroad. But now she went to Amerika and Australie to visit her family.

Both World Wars she saw. But that weren’t the most impressing moments. That was when the children came home and were sitting at the table telling about what has happened that day. She loved those moments… so cosy all of them together. Her ten children and 19 grandchildren and 18 grand-grandcildren now.

As she has reached that number of 100, she would like to surpass the oldest inhabitant of the Borkel. The oldest one, a woman, will be 107 next month.
