[i]All the four of us loved animals. We had a lot of them on the Haar as well as on the Boomgaard. The rabbits were the black and white Hollandertjes. Later on the goats Micky and Heidi. And here you see the pony’s. It must have been about 1962, at the time I moved to Hattem to get my first job, because I don’t remember the names of this couple.
Pa had his horses and each year there was a fowl. Even at the time he lived in the village of Vorden, he had a horse together with Ben and Diny who was at the Boomgaard. Pa even slept at night in a caravan next to the horse stable when the fowl could be born. But the mare surprised him during the day. Just when Johan went inside the house for a coffee and had a look out of the window he saw the fowl was born.
I never understood why Johan didn’t want a horse of his own, not even a pony for the children. And once at the time Diny talked to Joanne about riding the horse and Joanne would like to go to the riding club, Johan asked Diny to tell about the times she fell and was hurt. No.. a horse was not his idea. Jos and Joanne could join every sport they would like, but no horse riding.
Both became enthousiastic soccer players, just like Johan used to be untill a few years ago.
But… he has his deer in front of the house and the German shepherd, Boris is the last one.
And also Henk loves his dogs, hunters. Luna, a young dog is a very good one. Henk loves it training dogs and taking photographs of them.
